Carba Welcomes Dr. Rich Baker as New Chief Operating Officer

Minneapolis, MN – Carba is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Rich Baker as Chief Operating Officer. In this new role, Rich will join the founding leadership team to drive the growth of the company, whose mission is to capture 1 GtCO2e by 2035 by turning waste biomass into stable carbon products.

Dr. Rich Baker is a business executive and technologist. Previously he has led business and technical teams delivering new products to many markets, including automotive, aerospace, medical devices, semiconductor and factory automation. He was CTO for Protolabs and PAR Systems, and held multiple executive roles at MTS Systems including SVP and General Manager for the Test Division. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from Cornell University and has 18 granted US patents. In Rich’s new role with Carba, he will lead R&D, Engineering and Operations.

“Having Rich Baker join our team is a game-changer,” said Andrew Jones, CEO of Carba. “His broad experience across multiple sectors is enabling us to already see cost reductions and improvements in our patented technology. His project experience is critical as we plan to fast track project deployment in the Twin Cities area to fully commission and issue carbon removal credits this year.”

“As a long-time Minneapolis resident, the growing ecosystem of climate tech companies calling the Twin Cities home is incredible,” Baker said. “At this stage in my career, I am exhilarated to be focusing on projects that address the climate change crisis facing this planet. I know that we can lower capital and operating costs significantly – driving adoption of our technology for both landfill burial and into useful products. I am already building out the Carba technical, engineering, and operations teams to meet our critical goals.”
